It’s that time of the year again — income tax season!

For Year of Assessment 2024, please take note:

👉 e-Filing via MyTax portal is compulsory.

👉 No more manual forms or counter submission.

Let us guide you through 2 important things:

✅ What tax reliefs you can claim
✅ How to file your tax online

Personal Tax Reliefs (YA 2024)

Here are the common tax reliefs you should not miss:

  • RM9,000 for individual and dependents

  • Up to RM7,000 for EPF and life insurance (RM4,000 EPF + RM3,000 life)

  • Up to RM7,000 for education fees (including RM2,000 for upskilling courses)

  • Up to RM10,000 for medical expenses (serious illness, fertility treatment, vaccinations) (complete medical check-up/covid-19 detection test; and mental health limited to RM1,000)

  • RM2,500 for lifestyle purchases (books, internet, gadgets)

  • Extra RM1,000 for lifestyle (sports activities)

  • RM8,000 for parents’ medical expenses

  • RM8,000 for SSPN savings

  • RM3,000 for childcare centre and kindergartens (children below 6 years old)

  • RM3,000 for medical or education insurance

  • RM350 for SOCSO and EIS

  • RM3,000 for PRS contributions

  • RM6,000 for disabled taxpayer

  • RM6,000 for each disabled child, plus RM8,000 if they pursue higher education

  • RM5,000 for disabled spouse

  • RM2,500 for EV charging facilities

💡 Tip: Keep all your receipts for at least 7 years in case of audit.

How to e-File via MyTax Portal

Follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to https://mytax.hasil.gov.my

  2. Login using your ID and password

  3. First-time users must register tax number (TIN) and get PIN at LHDN

  4. On dashboard, go to e-Filing > click “e-Form”

  5. Choose the right form:

    • Form BE: Employment income only

    • Form B: Business income

  6. Check and update your personal details (address, phone, bank info)

  7. Key in your income (refer to EA Form, rental, freelance etc.)

  8. Tick your eligible tax reliefs (refer above!)

  9. System will auto-calculate your tax/refund

  10. Submit the form and make payment if necessary (via FPX or credit card)

Important Deadlines

  • Form BE (Employment Income) : Submit by 30 April 2025 - Grace period (e-Filing) until 15 May 2025

  • Form B (Business Income) : Submit by 30 June 2025 - Grace period (e-Filing) until 15 July 2025

⚠️ Penalty for late submission: RM200 to RM20,000 or jail up to 6 months.

  • Double check your bank account for refund

  • Ask your employer to upload e-CP8D for smoother filing

  • Keep all supporting documents for future taaudit.
